Behavior Change – Amazonia Mia, Chemonics, USAID
In partnership with Naturaleza Creativa, Chemonics, USAID, and Amazonia Mia, we co-created a behavior change strategy with and for cattle ranchers in the Guaviare region, whose primary livelihood was meat sales. Through a participatory process including field research, active listening, social marketing, and the Open Standards for Conservation, we identified economic alternatives alongside the community, such as rural ecotourism and the sale of agroecological products.
This intervention helped reduce pressure on cattle, restore key forest areas vital for water and air conservation, and strengthen local capacities. Ranchers were trained in innovative techniques to promote and market their own products and services within Guaviare, contributing to a more sustainable and climate-resilient economy.
